How to cook

Defrost the king prawns and rinse them briefly under cold water. Cooked king prawns can be used as soon as they have defrosted. Once defrosted, do not refreeze. For cold dishes, simply defrost, rinse, then use. For warm dishes, heat briefly as required.

Gourmet quality from South America

Our king prawns come from organic aquaculture in the Choluteca region, which can be found in the southern part of Honduras’ west coast.

The prawns are raised in pools and eat naturally occurring plankton and organic feed.The Vannamei is a tropical species of prawn which was originally farmed in equatorial regions. It is particularly popular with top chefs because it has firm, crisp flesh and a slightly sweet flavour.

Sustainable farm with its own mangrove nursery

Biopolar’s king prawns are raised in ancient, endangered mangrove forests. Our partner firm Seajoy helps to preserve the local ecosystem by using sustainable farming methods and supporting environmental and conservation projects nearby. It has its own mangrove nursery, which is dedicated to reforestation and raising awareness of environmental protection among young people.
